TACC Receives Honors in 2023 HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards

Computational support for energy research lauded at SC23 conference


    The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) has been recognized in the 20th Anniversary edition of the HPCwire Readers’ Choice Awards presented at the 2023 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis (SC23) in Denver, CO. 

    TACC was recognized with the following honor:

    Editors' Choice: Best Use of HPC in Energy

    A team of UT Dallas researchers used TACC’s Lonestar5, Lonestar6, and Stampede2 supercomputers to discover a “recipe” to increase the efficiency of solar cells made from organic materials. The experimental and theoretical investigations led to results that could help reduce the cost of manufacturing organic solar cells and lightweight solar panels.

    The coveted annual HPCwire Readers’ Choice Awards are determined through a nomination and voting process with the global HPCwire community, as well as selections from the HPCwire editors. This year marks 12 years running that TACC has received an HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Award.

    The awards are an annual feature of the publication and constitute prestigious recognition from the HPC community. They are revealed each year to kick off the annual supercomputing conference, which showcases high performance computing, networking, storage, and data analysis.
